GUILE, WILLIAM E.\ \ Of Vassar, age 79, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family and his loyal cat Louis. William was born October 1, 1927 in East Lansing, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Earl C. and Gladys (Lake) Guile. William was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Air Force where he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant as a flight simulator instructor and in the Army Air Corps as a medic earning the rank of Sergeant. \ \ He and Susan Gray were united in marriage on June 25, 1971 in Saginaw, Michigan. For forty-five years, William worked for the Michigan Department of Treasury as a Property Tax Assessor. He enjoyed collecting antiques and restoring WWI and WWII military relics.\ \ Surviving are his wife of thirty-five years, Susan; four children, 1St Sgt. Jason E. and wife Rose Manier of St. David, Arizona, Police Sgt. Benjamin W. and wife Heather Guile of Vassar, Dr. Barbara J. Guile of Vassar, Beverly J. Guile of Vassar; seven grandchildren, Melanie Merrion, David Guile, Brianna Manier, Tyler Langley, Jenna Guile, Jacob Langley, Bradley Guile; great granddaughter, Darrian Guile; and sister, Beverly and husband Bill Hagerman.\ \ William was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Benjamin Guile in 1973. \ \ Cremation has taken place and there will be a private committal in Eastlawn Cemetery in Lansing.
