Eckstein, Richard E. age 73 of Mt. Morris died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Funeral service will be Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 1:30pm at the Miles Martin Funeral Home, Rev Burton Jones officiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park. Richard's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12 noon to 8:00pm, and on Saturday from 12:30pm until time of service at 1:30pm. Memorial donation may be considered to Boy Scout Troop # 178, or Boy Scout Troop # 115, envelopes are available at the funeral home. Richard was born July 15, 1933 in Kingsley, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Paul and Hermina Erma (Lucavec) Eckstein. He and Elizabeth Cajka were united in marriage on December 26, 1953. \ \ Richard served in the US Army as a Master Sergeant. He worked at AC Spark Plug as a Lab Tech from 1952 until his retirement in 1991. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, serving as a Scout Master for Troop #179 in Mt. Morris, District Commissioner of the Tall Pine Council, and was awarded the Tomahawk Award in 1973. He had a tremendous influence on the lives his family, as well as many young people. \ \ Richard leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Elizabeth, 3 children Jeffery Eckstein of Flint, Pamela and husband Pete Boomer of Traverse City, and Kimberly Perry of Saginaw, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother Stanley Eckstein of Mt. Morris, and sister Joyce and husband Chuck Taylor of TN, and his special cat Tommy. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and baby son Randy Lee. \ \ \ \
