Obituary of Eva D Whalen

Whalen, Eva D. of Mt. Morris and Clio, passed away on December 12, 2009 in Flint, Michigan. Eva and twin sister, Neva, were born in Kirksville, Missouri, on January 14 1929 to Walter and Gladys Beard and older brother Walter Jr. She graduated from college Kirksville State Teachers College, in August of 1949, and married her husband of 48 years, Gerald E. Whalen, of Brighton, Michigan, the next day. Eva and Jerry moved to Mt. Morris, Michigan., in the mid 50Aaas to set up his medical practice and raise their children, Jeff Whalen and Dr. Carmella AAAddezio of Wichita Falls, Texas, Treasure (Whalen) and Roger Brower of Petoskey, Treata Whalen, of Clio, Jed Whalen of St. Claire, Dr. Jordy and Karen Whalen , of Grand Rapids, Jason Whalen, and Richar Johnson of New Buffalo, and John Whalen died as infant. Four grandchildren Keegan Anderson of Clio, Nicole Hammad, of Saginaw, Emon and Owen Whalen of Grand Rapids, One great-grandson, Gavin Hammad, of Saginaw, and sister-in-law Millie (Whalen) Murphy, of Flint. Eva was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed watching the heavens with her astronomy club, and raising and keeping an extensive African violet collection of which she was most proud. She was an avid genealogist and spent many years studying and compiling family histories for her own family as well as for many friends. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations are made to the ParkinsonAaas Disease Foundation (www.PDF.org) A reception to celebrate EvaAaas life will be held for family and friends at Longway Planetarium 1310 E. Kearsley Street Flint, Michigan on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 5-9pm
