Of Mt. Morris, age 67, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at her home. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Mr. Vernon Lawrence will officiate with cremation to follow. Marlene's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am to 8:00pm. Marlene was born January 14, 1940 in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin and Waneita (Mahar) Powers. She and Wallace F. Keely were united in marriage September 23, 1978. She attended Kearsley High School and, in her early teens, began working for Ritter's Florist in Flint, where her love of flowers began to grow. After graduating, Marlene began a career with GM working at Ternstedt, Fisher Body and Metal Fab in production, retiring in 1991. It was during her time at GM that she began working at June's Floral Shop in Mt. Morris. As her involvement with June's grew, the opportunity to buy the business came and she owned and operated June's during the day and finished her career with GM working 3rd shift. Over the years, Marlene's dedication enhanced June's to include an expanded business serving her community for over 28 years then selling the business to her daughter Waneita in January 2007. In addition to her dedication to the flower shop, Marlene also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, canning, gardening, ceramics and the trip she and Wallace took to Europe. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 28 years, Wallace F. Keely, two daugthers: Laura and husband Keith Davis of Mt. Morris, Waneita and husband Marc Bovan of Flint Twp., father, Melvin L. Powers of Burton, and many stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marlene was preceded in death by her mother Waneita C. Powers, and sister, Beverley C. Lang
