Of Vassar, age 78, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at St. MaryAaas Hospital. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Mr. Frank Lacavoli will officiate with cremation to follow. Marine Corps Honors will be provided by I&I Saginaw, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Jude's Hospital or The Injured Marine's Semper Fi Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. James was born May 18, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hank and Virginia (Spencer) Vasold. He and Donna Sabraw were united in marriage May 2, 1953. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War, earning many awards and accolades. He will be deeply missed by his family. James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Donna; children, Cindy and husband, Terry Baxter, Michele Foss, Jamie Sowers, Steven Spencer, Denise and husband, Jim Beauregard; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren with one due any day; brother, Victor; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Sassy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Virginia Vasold.
