Obituary of Robert L. Giddings

Of Vassar age 75 died Monday, September 17, 2007 at his home. Robert was born June 21, 1932 in Avon Township, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther and Florence (LaRose) Giddings. He and Betty Lou Snover were united in marriage June 30, 1951, in North Branch. Robert was employed by Grede Foundry, for 29 years, retiring in 1995, and was a member of the UAW Local # 7564. \ \ Robert leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years Betty Lou, 9 children: Robert W. Giddings Sr, Phyllis M. and husband Jessie Garza, Roy L. and wife Bonnie Giddings, Edward D. and wife Dagmar Giddings, Rick J. and wife Cathy Giddings, Cindy L. and husband John Q. Adams IV, Nancy and husband Damian McDuffie, Rex and wife Candi Giddings, and Thomas and wife Linda Giddings, 28 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, brother Luke Giddings, sister Mary Ann Yoe, sister in law Doris and husband Trinadad Castro, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters. \ \ Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 9:30am at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Rev. Fr. Steven S. Killey will officaiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Robert's family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and Friday from 11:00am to 8:00pm. On Saturday, Robert will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 9:00am until time of Funeral Mass at 9:30am. Memorial donations may be considered to a family fund, envelopes are available at the funeral home and at the church. \
