Obituary of Josephine A. Slattery

Of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Fostrian Manor. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00noon to 9:00pm. On Wednesday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray a Scriptural Rosary at 6:00pm. At 7:00pm Wednesday evening, the K of C Holy Family Council will gather at the funeral home for a 3rd Degree Memorial Service. On Thursday morning, Jo will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary School, Guardian Angel Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. \ \ Jo was born August 2, 1932 in Flint the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Amelia (Safarik) Renick. She and Robert D. Slattery were united in marriage October 7, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she had been a member of the Altar Society and Choir. She enjoyed traveling, her many "granda pets, caring for her houseplants, and above all spending time with her family. \ \ Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Robert D. Slattery, Sr. of Mt. Morris, three sons: Patrick and wife Patti Slattery of Fenton, Robert, Jr. and wife Vicki Slattery of Mt. Morris and Daniel and wife Anne Slattery of South Bend, Indiana, three daughters: Kathleen Briggs of Mt. Morris, Shelley and husband Steve Malicowski of Birch Run and Barbara and husband Mike Van Houten of Albion, Michigan, nine grandchildren, brother, John Renick of Florida, two sisters: Marge Lowell of St. Louis, Michigan and Fran and husband Paul Glauser of Mt. Morris, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. \ \ She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Marla Kay, sister, Mollie Stewart, and a brother, Charles Renick.
