Gordon was born in Flint on November 25, 1937, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas and Katherine (Nichols) Lary. On November 18, 1955, Gordon proudly enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Harwood until his honorable discharge on August 31, 1958. Upon his return to civilian life, Gordon started his career working at General Motors as a Tool & Die maker until his retirement in 1993. He met his beloved bride, Janice Lary, and the two of them were united in marriage on March 12, 1960. Gordon was a very active man and loved to be outside. Whether it was hunting, fishing, camping in Grayling, or golfing on the nearest course he could find. He also enjoyed traveling all over the world and bowled on a league for over 20 years. Gordon enjoyed remodeling and working with his hands and was a hands-on project man. He often said, “I’m a doer”. He was an avid softball player for many years and enjoyed watching all sports, which he “coached” from his recliner. He also enjoyed the occasional time in the casino and playing cards. Gordon loved his family and supported his children and grandchildren in whatever activity they were a part of. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish Gordon's memory is his beloved wife of 64 years, Janice Nichols; children: Gordon and wife, Kindra Nichols, Shirline and husband, Doug Sherman, Scott and wife, Sherry Nichols, Genise and husband, David Hicks; grandchildren: Kaylia and husband, Joe, Zackery, Scott and wife, Beth, Seth, Morgan, Taylor, Jakob and wife, Kaytlin, Tori, Leslie and husband Ben; great-grandchildren: Madden, Brody, Karsyn, Andilyn, Benjamin, Kayne, Isabella, A.J., Alex, Zoey, Gatlin, Tucker; several nieces nephews relatives and friends.
