Of Fairgrove, age 84, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Florida. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church in Fairgrove. Pastor Richard Lawther will officiate with Military Graveside Honors to follow in Brookside Cemetery. ErnestAaas family will be present at the Martin Funeral Home-Fairgrove on Wednesday to receive friends from 1:00pm until 9:00pm. On Thursday, Ernest will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Ernest was born February 28, 1925 in Wyandotte, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Barbara (Kukoricas) Erdody. Ernest met Marian Marsh at a Roller Skating Rink in Cass City. They dated for 1 1/2 years before being married at her parentAaas home in Mayville on December 8, 1951. Ernest served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. Ernest was a member of the Fairgrove VFW Post #7486. He worked at Eatton Foundry in Vassar for 12 1/2 years before becoming a mail carrier for the United States Post Office for 28 years retiring in 1985. He enjoyed collecting John Deere Tractors, old stationary engines, garage sales and spending the winter months in Florida. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ernest leaves to cherish his memory wife Marian; four children; Janet and husband John Carrick, Jim and wife Pam Erdody, Marilyn and husband Rich Cottrell and Jody Phipps; brother Frank and wife Rose Ann Erdody; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, son-in-law, Gary Phipps.
