Obituary of Mark Wesley Hart

Age 65, of Flint, died Friday, December 15, 2023, at Hurley Hospital in Flint, surrounded by his family. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Sarah Larose-Nettell to officiate, with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery. Mark’s family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mark was born in Flint on February 8, 1958, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Mildred (Silvernail) Hart. Educated locally, he attended Clare High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. Mark met his beautiful bride, Susan Hammel while working at the US Post Office. The two dated fell in love and were married on April 9, 1988, at Crossroads Village. He worked for the United States Post Office for 32 years, with the last 14 years including being the President of the Flint Area Postal Worker Union. Mark was very passionate about the work he did for the union. His family meant the world to him, especially his grandchildren. He was a lover of sports, especially the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and U of M Football. Mark could often be found listening to talk radio or watching shows about Civil War history. Mark had a wonderful sense of humor that included him being a jokester and enjoying playing jokes on everyone. In his free time, he enjoyed feeding the birds, watching Bob Villa home improvement shows, Bob Ross painting still trees, and reading Louis L’ Amour novels. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

 

Left to cherish Mark’s memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Susan Hart; children: Tammi and husband, Jerricho Bone, Tyra Hart and fiancé, Istvan Fulop, Joshua Hart, Tasha Hart, Katherine and husband, Bart Footman; grandchildren: Antonio, Sean, Olivia, Colin, Wesley; siblings: Jim Hart, Allen Hart, Keith and wife, Becky Hart, Larry Hart, Sharon Kendziorski, Sharlene Brancheau; his beloved dog: Candy; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

 

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Betty Jo Hart, Wendy and husband, Pete Rappas; father and mother-in-law: Richard and Joyce Hammel.
