Obituary of Thelma Jean Ross
Age 90, of Clio, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Angel Manor with her family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, November 3, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Rev. Joseph Kennedy to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Thelma’s family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Thelma was born in Richfield Center, Michigan, on October 30, 1932, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold and Bernice (Riley) Irrer. Educated locally, Thelma graduated from Flint Central High School with the Class of 1950. Thelma met and married the love of her life on October 4, 1952, Robert Ross. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 13, 2017. Thelma was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church-Clio. She had many fond memories which included traveling to the cottage built by Bob and herself on Fife Lake, family functions, especially doting on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and always enjoying any time she and Bob spent together for more than 65+ years! Thelma enjoyed life to the fullest extent! She was always the life of a party and a good sport for all the shenanigans pulled by her or her grandchildren! They were always enjoying a joke or prank with Grandma! In her free time, Thelma enjoyed taking trips to Texas to see family, reading, crafting, sewing, quilting, gardening, coloring, bowling, cooking and baking (she made a great beef pie!), and playing games (especially Boggle and Scrabble). She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the wonderful staff at Angel Manor, especially her caregivers: Sadie, Bernetta, Arriana, Jamie, Ashley, and Tina as well as the caring staff from McLaren Hospice.
Left to cherish Thelma’s memory are her son: Brian and wife, Linda Ross; daughters: Terry and husband, Mark, Salamasick, Nancy and husband, David, Hajek; grandchildren: Brooke, Chris (Meghann), Brent (Angela), Alex (Kirk), Blake (Cassie); great-grandchildren: Max, Karson, Hart, Lillian, Hazel, Hilde, Hendrix; brothers: Robert Irrer and David Irrer; sister: Connie Hopkins; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert, parents; son, Michael Ross; siblings: Nina, George, Marge, and Fred.
