Age 80, of Clio, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Serene Gardens with her family by her side. In accordance with Connie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Connie was born in Caro, Michigan, on March 24, 1943, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Anna (June) Downing. Educated locally, Connie attended Beecher High School, graduating with the Class of 1961. Shortly after graduation, she went on to obtain her nursing degree at St. Joseph Hospital and then continued her education at the University of Phoenix, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Family Life Education. Connie met and married the love of her life, Thomas Reuther, sadly, he preceded her in death on October 24, 1982. In 1978, Connie opened her own shop called the Tent and Tarp Shop, where she mended tents and tarps that were being sent overseas to our military troops. She continued this business until her retirement in 1992. During this same time frame, she also worked as a nurse for Hurley Hospital, Henry Ford Hospital, and Flint Osteopathic Hospital, traveling wherever she was needed. Connie loved to take care of and help people and teaching and nursing was just the place she could soar. Traveling with her children was one of her favorite things to do. She even had the opportunity to move to Reno, Nevada for several years. Her travels included Disneyland, Cedar Point, and any other fun place to go. Connie loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed listening to music of all genres, from opera to The Beatles. Connie often found herself learning new things and attending classes to further her education. In her free time, Connie enjoyed reading Mary Higgins Clark novels, going to the movies, watching TV, especially Crime Dramas, and watching the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers.

Left to cherish Connie's memory are her children: Thomas Reuther II and significant other, Jennifer Reyes and Katrina Reuther; siblings: June (Bill) Brown, Faye (Dean) Howard, Daniel (Joyce) Downing, Bethany (Tim) Dawes, Donald (Melanie) Downing; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; and brother, David Downing.
