Obituary of Shirley Ann Nagy

Age 84, of Birch Run, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at home with her family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm., Monday, April 3, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetary. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am. Until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Shirley was born in Shepard, Michigan on December 18, 1938, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Dorothy (Aldrich) Brokaw. She met and married the love of her life, Gerald Nagy on March 16, 1978, in Flint, Michigan.  Shirley was an Assembly worker for General Motors until her retirement in 1999. She then worked at Walmart in Lapeer for 9 years. In 1992, Shirley proudly returned to school to earn her degree.

 
Shirley Loved spending time with her family. She would cook and bake meals for them and for any family get-together. While watching crime shows on television, she liked knitting and crocheting. Shirley was very passionate about her gardening, especially her roses which she was proud of the results. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and dancing when she was able. Shirley would occasionally take trips to the casinos. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a huge college football fan. She would always cheer for UofM. Shirley was a Detroit Lions fan.

 

Shirley is survived by her children: Martin (Barbara) Kirbitz, Craig (Loretta) Kirbitz, Lisa (Tim) Stehlik, Teri Nagy, and Jamie (Alison) Kirbitz; siblings: Nina (Dick) Sartell, Jack (Carm) Willman, Dave Willman, Dick (Terry) Willman, Mick (Sue) Willman, Jimmy Willman; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.                                                    

 

She was Preceded in death by her beloved husband: Gerald L. Nagy; parents; children: Karen, Gail, and Eric; grandson: James; brother: Gene Willman; and other beloved family and friends.
