Obituary of Marion Stanley Compton

Of Genesee, age 85, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at his residence. The funeral service will take place at 1:30pm, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mount Morris. Pastor Todd Smith will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. MickAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Wednesday from 10:00am until 1:00pm and 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Mick was born May 17, 1922 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearl and Valesca Compton. He and Jean Joyce Laird were united in marriage December 4, 1948. Mick was a 1940 graduate of Flint Northern. He also proudly served our country in World War II and was an active member of the V.F.W. and Masons. Mick retired from GM after nearly 40 years of service and was an avid snowmobiler. Mick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was known for never missing a family event. He was always there for everyone and had a true passion for life. Left to cherish his memory are his four children; Kenneth and Clarice Compton of Pentwater, Gary and wife Shirley Compton of Au Gres, Marlene and husband John Pilon of Genesee, James and wife Tressa Compton of Lapeer, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy and husband Don Jones and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeannie and four brothers.
