Obituary of Opal M. Servis

Of Vassar, age 95, died Tuesday, March 04, 2008 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper in Saginaw. Opal was born April 4, 1912 in Vassar Township. She was the wife of Wilbur (Bill) Servis who preceded her in death in 1971. Opal retired as Assistant Postmaster of the Vassar Post Office after 27 years of service. She was a life time member of the Millington Huldah Rebekah Lodge #168 and loved bowling, china painting, golfing, playing cards, and traveling. Opal had a great influence on her family and will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. She always saw the best in everyone, was a good conversationalist and everyone liked to visit with her. Surviving are her children: Jean (David) Hill, Betty Jo (Robert) Atkins, Ann Marie (Jerry) Cobb, Patricia (Ernest) LeMaster; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; five plus great great grandchildren; sister Joyce Ford; sisters-in-law Wanda Bogert and Betty Bogert. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, six brothers, and one sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Saturday March 8, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Vassar with Reverend John Becker officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Family will be available to receive friends Friday from 2-8pm at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. A memorial service with the Millington Huldah Rebekah Lodge #168 will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers those desiring may consider donations to the charity of their choice.
