DEITERING, David J. Of Flint, age 52, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Burton. Rev. Fr. Timothy MacDonald will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the VFW Flint Post # 822. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00noon to 8:00pm. On Saturday, David will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. David was born September 19, 1955 in Gaylord, MI the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight and Margaret (Slattery) Deitering Head. David served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the VFW Flint Post #822, and a lifetime member of the DAV, and NRA. David leaves to cherish his memory his mother Margaret, son Patrick, brothers and sisters: John Deitering, Karen and husband Brian Wilson, Cheryl and husband Don Galster, Mary and husband Robert Bournival, Susan Townsend, Jim and wife Phyllis Deitering, Richard and wife Gaylene Deitering, and Steven Deitering, grandmother Mary Deitering, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dwight, step father Clarence, and son Shawn. The family wished to extend a special thank you to Genesys Hospice for all of the wonderful care given to David and his family.
