Obituary of Gary Dean King

Age 70, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. In accordance with Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place. A "Remembering the Piano Man, Gary D. King” service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Theatre 57 2220 W. Vienna Road Clio, MI 48420.

Gary was born on Friday, May 27, 1949, in Highland, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oren and Mary (Hamby) King. He graduated from  Greenville High School in Greenville, Illinois, with the class of 1967. Gary would continue his education at Greenville College, graduating in 1973, earning his Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in music and English. After graduation, Gary began working for the Mt. Morris Consolidated School District from 1973 until his retirement in 2003. He had a passion for Judy Garland, classical music, literature, and reading biographies. He also enjoyed the theater in many capacities including acting, directing, accompanying, and playing the piano.

Left to cherish his memory are numerous Hamby cousins; special friends: Judy Ciotti and family, Elaine Carriere and son Patrick Green; Tom and wife Sylvia Shae, Maggie Harmon, and Karen McHarg.

Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother Mary (1999) and his father Oren (1997.)

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Flint Youth Theater or to the Clio Cast & Crew.
