Of Otisville, age 87, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Rev Gene Smith, Rev Walter David, and Rev Alan Duce will officiate with burial to follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00pm until 9:00pm and then on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Richfield Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Earl was born December 27, 1922 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Florence (Soper) Johnson. He and Lillian (Lynn) Fick were united in marriage April 3, 1976. Earl was a lifetime farmer and at one time, owned and operated one of the largest family owned beef operations in the state of Michigan. Earl leaves to cherish his memory his first wife, Hazel; wife, Lillian; children, Alan and wife, Patricia, Craig, Ryan and wife, Rita, Beth and husband, Frank Sorensen; step-children, Sherry and husband, Robert Smith, Randall and wife, Kathy Fick, John and wife, Debbie Fick, Renee Miller, Margie and husband, Brian Thompson; twenty-four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth and husband, Robert Smith, Ethel and husband, Jack Culver; several nieces, nephews, in-laws and a host of friends; special sister-in-law, Evelyn Rendleman; security guard dogs, Sparky and Mutt. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son; brother, Donald; granddaughter, Carolyn Fick.
