Obituary of Arvid Ehrmantraut

Arvid L. Ehrmantraut Of Mt. Morris, age 83, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at his daughterAaas residence. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Faith White will officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. ArvidAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, Sunday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and again on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the wishes of the Ehrmantraut Family. Arvid was born November 24, 1924 in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Alice (Briddell) Ehrmantraut. He was united in marriage to Helen DuPraw on May 21, 1943. She preceded him in death in 1994 after 51 years of loving marriage. Also his second wife Marilyn (Shanks) Ehrmantraut preceded him in death. Arvid was a dedicated production worker and foreman at Chevrolet, where he worked from 1943 until 1979. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Michael and wife Judy Ehrmantraut of Clio, Patricia and husband Larry Potts of Montrose, Carol McKnight of Flint; eight grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Besides his wife, Helen, Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Laurie and all of his siblings, Peggy Cutler, Francis, Merrill, Nyle, Ben and June Metzger. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at Hurley Medical Center, Dr. Osama Galal and Avalon Hospice.
