Obituary of Mavis Rau

Of Mt. Morris, age 77, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 peacefully at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at St. MaryAaas Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Mavis's family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Monday from 12:00 Noon until 9:00pm and Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until 9:00pm. On Tuesday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at 6:00pm to pray a Scriptural Rosary. On Wednesday morning, Mavis will be taken to church to lie in state from 11:00am until the time of Mass at 12:00 Noon. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Mary's School, American Cancer Society and Parkinson's Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Mavis was born June 15, 1930 in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sr. and Imbi (Sipola)VanSickle. She and Keith Martin Rau were united in marriage in West Branch, Michigan. Mavis was a member of St. Mary's and St. Francis Bowling League, The Euchre Club and The Altar Society. She enjoyed playing dominoes, sending cards for every occasion to all family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was never without a camera. Mavis is survived by her children: William Rau, Rebecca (John) Kaufman, Patricia (Dave)Rau-Neumann, Veronica(Randy)Moore, Thomas Rau, Roxanne(Mike)Bentley,and Doreen(Gary)Fulcher; grandchildren: Mike, Jennifer, T.J., Melissa, Alicia, Billy, Chris, Stephanie, Michelle, Rashel, Amanda, Jessi, Danielle, Josh,and Zach; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Codey, Tianna, Dylan, Kyle, Dalton, Collin, Valerie, Brandon,Logan and Miley; siblings: Everett VanSickle, Maxine (Eugene)Gehl, Clifford VanSickle, Robert(Camille) VanSickle and Carol Jean Bragg; brothers-in-law: Leon(Evelyn)Rau, Robert(Donna) Rau, Charles (Betty) Rau; sisters-in-law: Marie (Junior)Clemens, Helen(John)Baker and Alice(Harold)Chemeaux special friends: Geneva Deloney, Norma Blandford, Jean Mc Kerchie and Marion Echlin; Mavis was preceded in death by her husband: Keith Rau; parents: Everett and Imbi (Sipola)VanSickle; sister-in-law: Bethel Byrnes, Doris Rau and Teresa VanSickle; brother-in-law: John Bragg; baby brother: Jerry; special friend: Hap Deloney
