Of Clio, age 74, died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at home. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Mt. Morris Church of Christ in Mt. Morris. Minister Brad McFaul will officiate with burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11:00am to 3:00pm and 4:00pm to 8:00pm. On Thursday, Curtis will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mt. Morris Church of Christ for the Nigerian Missionary Work. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Curtis was born July 20, 1935 in Senath, Missouri the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Willie (Oliver) Watson. He and Ruth Byer were united in marriage October 11, 1958. Curtis was employed by General Motors V-8 Engine Plant for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He served as an Elder for the Mt. Morris Church of Christ for 40 years. Curtis leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years, Ruth, three children, Karen and husband Randy McClure, Jim and wife Tanya Watson, and Brian and wife Debbie Watson, seven grandchildren, Randa McClure, Elise and husband Dave Shuman, Codey and Casey Watson, Baylee, Paighton and Makenna Watson, three sisters, Dorothy Reaves, Venita Woods, and Terry Hudgens, and brother Paul Watson, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Abigail Watson, two sisters Willa Dean Belew and JoAnn Yates.
