Of Clio, age 80, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. The funeral service will take place 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. BobAaas family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday from 10:00am until 2:00pm and 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Avalon Hospice. Bob was born January 16, 1928 in Bloomfield, Missouri the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roe and Elsie (Layton) Fortner. He and Mildred Lois Davis were united in marriage October 29, 1949. Bob worked as a pipe fitter at Flint Truck & Bus for over 40 years, retiring in 1988. Bob leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred; children, Gregory and wife Lila Fortner, Richard and wife Esther Fortner, both of Clio, Brenda and husband Ron Martin of Mt. Morris and Gail and husband Matt Blades of Fenton; grandchildren, Steven Fortner, Lisa Drendall, Tiffany Martin and Chad and Chelsea Blades; one great-grandchild expected in March; brother, Elmer and wife Edna Fortner and sister, Goldie and husband Bill Depriest. Bob is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Virginia and Genevia.
