Obituary of Donus F. Titus

Of Mt. Morris, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Genesys Convalescent Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Home Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Dan Gordon will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Pastor TitusAaa family will be present to receive friends at the Home Baptist Church, G-8475 N. Saginaw St. in Mt. Morris on Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday from 11:00am to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday morning from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Home Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the church. Pastor Titus was born September 22, 1929 in Tera Haute, Indiana, the son of Frank and Nellie (Nichols) Titus. He graduated from the Henry Ford Trade School with the Class of 1947. Don and Cynthia F. Crawford were united in marriage January 15, 1949. Pastor Titus was ordained by the New Hope Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights, Michigan and pastored many churches in the Detroit area until receiving his call to the Home Baptist Church in Mt. Morris where he faithfully served for nearly 39 years, retiring in July of 2003. Don also served in the National Guard, worked as a tool and die maker for many years, and was an avid bass fisherman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Cynthia, three children: Eileen and husband Joe Rubey, Mark and wife Sherrie Titus, and Marianne and husband Bryan Dixon, nine grandchildren: Sarah, Jonathon, Joey, Tiffany, Nicole, Marcus, Amanda, Ryan, and Ben, and several great grandchildren, brother, William and wife Laura Titus, two sisters, Jewell and husband Bill Alaniva, and Evalyn Sherman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David, and brother Del.
