Obituary of Jesus Ruiz

Of Fairgrove, age 74, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. The funeral service will take place 11:00am Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Pastor Pat Robbins will officiate with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery with Military Honors by Caro American Legion Post #7. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday 4-8pm, Friday 11am-2pm and 4-8pm and Saturday from 10am until time of service at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Fairgrove Lions, Fairgrove Library, American Legion Post #7 and Family Discretionary Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jesus was born July 14, 1934 in Austin, TX the son of Mr. and Mrs. Santiago and Piedad (Hernandez) Ruiz. He and Helen Jacobs were united in marriage on August 18, 1962. Jesus retired from GM in 1997 and worked for the Montei Farms for more than 40 years. Jesus was a member of Union Local 599, Caro American Legion Post #7 and the Fairgrove Lion's Club. He enjoyed woodworking and made several working models of trucks and semi trucks. Jesus leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Helen Ruiz; children Kevin and wife Susan, Steven Ruiz, Shellie Ruiz and husband Justin Hoyt, Michael and wife Lisa Ruiz, Marilyn Ruiz, Jennifer Ruiz, John Ruiz and friend Cathy Zaleski; brothers and sisters Otilia and husband Victor Zonnefield, Nilda and husband Rollie Lewis, Paulino and wife Sandra Ruiz and Romelia Harris; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild; and many neices, nephews and friends. Jesus was preceeded in death by his parents Santiago and Piedad (Hernandez) Ruiz and his daughter Kathy and husband Gary Freeman.
