Obituary of Patricia Joyce Sorensen

Of Mt. Morris, age 78, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, February 23, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Pat's family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. On Sunday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 5:00 pm. On Monday morning, family and friends will gather at the funeral home from 9:00 am until proceeding to church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Girl Scouts, St. Mary Catholic Church or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.

Pat was born July 3, 1930, in Genesee County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Ada (Coger) McClain. She and Arthur Sorensen were united in marriage on July 17, 1948, at St. Mary's in Mt. Morris. Pat loved playing cards and loved being with her family. She was a true friend to all.

Pat leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband; Arthur "Lee"; children, Rena and husband Louis Urbanik, Rita Short, Ralph and wife Ronda Sorensen, Lois and husband Byron Taylor, Ronald and wife Patricia Sorensen and Russell and wife Annette Sorensen, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Ward of Owosso and close friends, Ben and Alma Treat and Debby Killabrew.

Pat is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Winnie Hessam, Coger McClain, Ira McClain and Ralph McClain and sisters, Corrinda "Beth" Westfall and Rena Smith.
