Obituary of Shawn Elmer Sanderson

Age 49, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, December 22, 2017, at Genesee Care Center after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Shawn was born in Flint, Michigan, on October 22, 1968, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer and Julia (Pollard) Sanderson. He attended Flint Academy and graduated with the class of 1986 · Shawn proudly served in the United States Army following High School. Over the years Shawn enjoyed working in the food service industry.

More than anything, Shawn enjoyed spending time with his two children. Shawn loved Michigan Football and Redwings Hockey, watching WWE with his son and Nascar Racing. In his free time, Shawn loved to be outdoors. He shared his passion for hunting and fishing with his children and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Left to cherish his memory are his two children: Dylan Garrett Sanderson of Clio, Taylor (Tyler) Mason of Mt. Morris and their son, his grandson Wyatt Mason. Shawn is also survived by his twin brother: Brian Sanderson; niece Megan Sanderson, nephew, Cody Sanderson, his aunt: Pauline Mudge of Flint, and many friends.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer and Julia (Pollard) Sanderson and nephew Zachary Sanderson.

Shawn’s children are planning to celebrate Shawn’s life with a dinner following cremation. Date and time to be determined. Information will be shared once scheduled.
