Of Genesee, age 74, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Residence in Florida. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am until 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to a charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert "Jim" was born April 9, 1934 in Sterling, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Gertrude (Gordon) Scannell. He and Ruth McClain were united in marriage on September 15, 1984. Robert worked at A/C spark plug retiring on December 22, 1988. He enjoyed golf and has had several AaA"hole in onesAaA, playing cards, bowling, shuffleboard and bingo. Robert leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ruth, children, Robert (Sandy) Scannell Jr., Susan (Harold) Vandercook and William (Lynette) Scannell, Step-children, Joy Ransom, Steven (Pam) McClain and Tammy McClain, brothers Gordon Scannell, Thomas (Wanda) Scannell and Ed (Harriet) Scannell, grandchildren, Carolee, Danny, Christi, Jeffrey and Amber and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Marsha (Scott) Scannell.
