Obituary of Nellie Elizabeth Preston

Of Vassar Township, age 90, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at A FriendAaas Place in Millington. The funeral service will take place 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Rev David Wermuth will officiate with burial to follow in Gilford Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home 1-8pm Wednesday and Thursday from 10am until time of funeral at 11:00am. Nellie was born October 7, 1918 in Bay City, Michigan daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Elizabeth Lee. She graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1937. Nellie worked for GoddeyneAaas in Bay City as a stenographer before marrying Kenneth Preston of Munger, Michigan on October 7, 1939 at the home of NellieAaas parents. Nellie then left her job to become a homemaker and farmerAaas wife. Kenneth and Nellie made their first home on a farm in Munger, Michigan. Ten years later they moved to Vassar, Michigan to a larger farm. Nellie was active as a 4-H leader for the Jolly 4-H Club and the Millington band Parents. NellieAaas pride and joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Children Margaret "Maggie" and Clifton "Bill" White of Vassar, Lee and wife Arlene Preston of Millington, Nancy and husband Francis "Butch" Kukulski of Owosso; 12 grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents William Henry and Elizabeth Hannah "Erwin" Lee, husband Kenneth Preston, one infant sister and one infant brother, infant daughter Mary Ann, one grandchild and three great grandchildren.
