Obituary of Joyce Elizabeth Shelley

Of Flushing, age 85, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Court Street United Methodist Church in Flint. Rev. Robert Wright will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. JoyceAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Sunday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm. On Monday morning, Joyce will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the Shriners Childrens Hospital, Masonic Pathways Home in Alma or a charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Joyce was born April 20, 1923. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star in Mt. Morris and loved her pets, especially her poodle Louie. Joyce was a member of the Presbyterian Community Church and was a bank teller at Genesee and Citizens Bank for many years. She was a local business owner, Carpets by Perry. Joyce had a love for music and dancing. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother-in-law, Kenneth Shelley; nieces and nephews, Roger (Rose) Shelley, Patty Shelley, Chuck (Janine) Shelley, Denise (Chuck) Bowman, Todd Shelley Clarence (Jean) Swartwood Jr., Patricia (Ron) Shooltz and Robert (Sandy) Swartwood. Joyce is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Audrey (Edward) Dodson, and many close special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Cranston; husband, Douglas Perry and second husband, Robert Shelley.
