Of Genesee, age 61, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the St. Mary Catholic Church. Following the service, procession will take place with GaryAaas 1970 AA Camaro Z28 and his friendsAaa vehicles to burial in Flint Memorial Park with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #158 - Clio. GaryAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00am to 9:00pm. On Wednesday morning, Gary will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed towards the family wishes. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Gary was born October 28, 1947 in Mt. Clemens, the son of Stanley and Virginia (Fisher) Zawol. He and Linda Metevier were united in marriage May 3, 1969. Gary served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969. He was employed at General Motors, working in many capacities, prior to his retirement in 1996 after 30 years of service. Gary loved cars, espcially drag racing, and his 1966 Chevelle and 1970 AA Camaro Z28. Above all, he loved his family and will be missed dearly. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Zawol of Genesee, three children; Teresa, David, and Douglas Zawol, grandson, Austin Zawol, many cousins and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, William Earl.
