Obituary of Rev. Cyril K. Haines

Of Vassar, age 76, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 28, 2009 at St. MaryAaas Hospital in Saginaw. Rev. Haines was born September 14, 1932 in Dutton, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Alberta (Clingman) Haines. He and Yvonne Durfee were united in marriage September 5, 1953. Rev. Haines attended Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music and, after graduation pastored many churches including; South Gaines United Brethren in Christ Church, Tuscola Community Church and currently at Wahjamega Country Church. He also currently worked as a welder for Amigo in Bridgeport and was the sexton of Tuscola Township Cemetery. He was a very active man, involved in numerous aspects of his community and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Yvonne, five children, C. Keith Haines, Jr., Cynthia K. and husband Michael Gohsman, Chris K. Haines, Cheri K. and husband Raymond McDonald, Corey K. and wife Heather Haines, five grandchildren, Naomi and Sarah Rose Haines, Kira Gohsman, Jessica McDonald, Hannah Haines, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Vassar. Pastor Max McCloud will officiate with burial to follow in Tuscola Township Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home Aa" Vassar on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00pm. On Wednesday morning, Rev. Haines will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Wahjamega Country Church or Tuscola Twp. Cemetery. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
