Obituary of Roger Hicks

Roger Lynn Hicks Sr. Of Mt. Morris, age 58, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at his home. The funeral service will take place 10:00am, Monday, April 27, 2009 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Flint. Pastor Beck will officiate with burial to follow in West Vienna Township Cemetery. RogerAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Saturday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 9:00pm. On Monday morning, Roger will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:00am until the time of service at 10:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Roger was born July 11, 1950 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Elizabeth (Shepard) Hicks. He and SuzAnne Wright were united in marriage in 1968 and were together for 23 years and had three children. Later in life, Roger would meet and marry Cynthia Hicks on July 10, 2000. After graduating from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1968, Roger would begin a career with GM. He worked as a union representative for many years until his retirement in 1994. He was also a member of UAW Local #326, the Genesee Eagles Aerie #4349 and the Bancroft Masonic Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, local Politics, flying RC Planes Aa" he had 14 of them, and loved his 1987 fully restored pick-up truck that he enjoyed doing burn outs with. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia, two daughters, Jennifer Schott and her sons; Frank, Chase and their father, Troy, Angela and husband Kenneth Bostwick and their daughters; KayLea, Kirsten and Kennedy, son, Roger II and wife Katie Hicks and their children, MaKinna, Roger III and Palin. Mother and grandmother of RogerAaas children, SuzAnne Hicks, two brothers; Gregory and wife Nicki Hicks and Jeffrey Hicks, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
