Obituary of Walter J. Wheeler

Of Flint, age 77, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 1:30 PM Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Carol Brown will officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Friday 2:00pm - 9:00pm and Saturday 10am - 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Family Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Walter was born January 1, 1932 in Gaylord, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Mary (Clark) Wheeler. He and Dorothy M. Allen were united in marriage December 23, 1984 in Flint. Walter liked working with cars, spending time with the Foster Grandparent Program, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and his puppy. Surviving are his wife Dorothy Wheeler of Flint; sisters, Vera Smith, Donna Molina, Molly Allen, Naomi Hawley; brothers, William "Bill" Wheeler, Ed Wheeler and Norman Wheeler; stepchildren, Matthew LaBo, Marie and husband Jeff Whitt, Claude LaBo, Jr., Kenny and wife Chris LaBo, Herbert "Buddy" Allen; 10 grandchildren and "Poppa's Angel" Brianna LaBo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friend Charles Brown; special puppy "Chubbs". The family would like to extend a special thanks to the outstanding staff of Genesys Health Park, 2nd and 3rd floors. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Mary Jo and Ellen.
