Of Fairgrove, age 79, died Friday, February 12, 2010 at home. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. Rev. Leonard A. Astrowski, Jr. will officiate with Graveside Military Honors conduct by Fairgrove VFW Post #7486 at Brookside Cemetery. WM. JackAaas family will be present at the Martin Funeral Home Aaa Fairgrove on Monday from 1:00pm until 9:00pm. On Monday there will be a VFW Memorial Service at 5:00pm; conducted by Fairgrove VFW Post #7468. On Tuesday, WM. Jack will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Bell Tower Fund or to the Fairgrove VFW Post #7486. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. WM. Jack was born August 24, 1930 in Elwell, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Florence (McCullough) Hills. He and Charlotte Roth were united in marriage September 12, 1953. WM. Jack graduated from Fairgrove High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War; before receiving his Honorable Discharge on February 12, 1953 at Fort Custer, Michigan. WM. Jack worked for Saginaw Steering Gear for 30 years before retiring on September 1, 1985. During his 30 years of service he never missed a day. WM. Jack was a member of UAW Local #699 and a life member of VFW Post #7486. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Charlotte, four sons; David and wife Joanne Hills, Daniel Hills, Jack and wife Cindy Hills, and James and wife Shelley Hills, eight grandchildren; Nicole, Tracey and Tara, Joshua, Rachelle and Caleb, and their mother, Debbie Hills, and Emily and Connor, seven great-grandchildren; Andrew, Issac, Owen, Josie, Caleb Jr., Chloe and Madison, special sweet heart, Pearl Parsell, nephew, Tom and wife Cindy Gohsman, cousin, Carole Travis, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. WM. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Marvin Gohsman, niece, Kathy and special friend, Rolland Kern.
A Memorial Tree was planted for WM.
