Obituary of Harold Krause

Of Akron, age 81, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Bay Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Wisner United Methodist Church in Akron. Pastor Fredrick Neumann will officiate with burial to follow in Demorest Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #7486. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove on Thursday from 3:00 pm to 9:00pm. On Friday, Harold will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Akron Veterans Memorial Park or Wisner United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Harold was born November 11, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Elizabeth (Mohr) Krause. He and Emma Klatt were united in marriage November 22, 1947 in Unionville. He operated his own farm until his retirement in 1980. He also worked for General Motors for 10 years. In the winter time, he worked for Laethem Farm Service and DeFoe Ship Building. He spent over 30 years wintering in Florida, where he was involved as a tournament director and held offices in local, state and district levels. He was a charter member of the Gateway SportsmanAaas Club, the Vassar Golf and Country Club and VFW Post #7486. Harold was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He served his country in World War II in the Phillipean Islands with the US Army. Harold leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 61 years Emma, two sons; David Harold and wife Julia Krause, and Michael John and wife Agnes Krause, three granddaughters; Lynette and husband Michael DAaaSouza, Lori Krause, and Janelle and husband Omar Costillo, great grandson; Omar Costillo, step grandchildren; Tamara Olive, and Matona Moebes, and six step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Fred and John, and sister Freda Ruppal.
