SMITH, Robie A. Of St. Helen, age 88, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at her home. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Pastor Richard Lawther will officiate with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 am until time of funeral at 2:00 pm on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to West Branch Helping Hands Hospice, Miracle For Luke, or Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robie was born July 27, 1921 in Fairgrove, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Armond and Leta (Davison) Barriger. She and John Smith were united in marriage June 13, 1942 at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Robie was a graduate of Fairgrove High School Class of 1938. She then continued her education at the Bay City School of Cosmetology. Robie owned and operated SmithAaas Beauty Shoppe in Fairgrove until her retirement in 1969. Surviving are, husband, John Smith of St. Helen. 2 daughters, Patsy and Jim Waters of St. Helen and Joan Streeter of Atlanta. 6 grandchildren, Scott and Vicki Wassmann, Michael and Shannon Wassmann, Janet Wassmann, and Ron Jovanovicz, James and Joy Streeter, Jennifer and Chris Holland and John and Martha Streeter. 16 great-grandchidren, Mindy, Matthew, Mark, Simon, Sydnee, Katie, Molly, Nicholas, Jake, Joelle, Josh, Sara, Ella, Tyler, Jay and Brady. 3 great great grandchildren, Alysa, Piper and William. Two brothers, Pat and Beverly Barriger and Harry and Sue Barriger. 4 step grandchildren, Kimberly, Jim Debie and Jerry. Robie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Melvin, Robert, Richard and Guy, sisters, Donna, Dorothy, Thelma, Marion and Naoma, and son-in-law, James Streeter.
