Obituary of David E. Esckelson

Of Vassar, age 51, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, June 14, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Vassar in Vassar. Pastor Nathan Mains will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00pm until 8:00pm and on Sunday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm. David will be taken to church to lie in state on Monday at 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. David was born August 31, 1958 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Esther (Curtis) Esckelson. David was an avid outdoorsman; he was an awesome dad and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. David leaves to cherish his memory his son, Craig and Heather; daughter, Kerry; girlfriend, Penny; mother of his children, Mitzi; siblings, Linda and husband, Bruce Stockwell, Carol and husband, John Warian, Pam and husband, Steve Radick; two grandchildren, Hailee and Christopher; special friends, Craig and Jack; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and special pets, Tyson and Peep. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Corporal Christopher Esckelson; special uncle, Leon; and four infant siblings.
