Obituary of Doris Mae Vliet

Of Clio, age 80, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at her home. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Carl Halquist will officiate with burial to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, from 12:00noon until 4:00pm and from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the Jewish Voice Ministries International or Trinity Assembly of God. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Doris was born May 21, 1930 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth and Edith (Welch) Welsh. She and Jim Vliet were united in marriage on February 12, 1950. She will be remembered for her paintings, loving her Bible, enjoying gardens, her fish pond, and for being an excellent cook. Doris was a wonderful wife and mother and will be greatly missed. Doris leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 60 years, Jim; children, Jim and wife, Betty Vliet of Swartz Creek, Annette and husband, Larry Gasperosky of New Lothrop, and Tim Vliet of Mt. Morris; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Williams; daughter-in-law, Rose Vliet; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Danny and David; granddaughter, Crystal Vliet; daughter-in-law, Carol Vliet; and two sisters, Barbara and Peggy.
