Obituary of Homer Kirby

Of Clio, age 58, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at his home. The funeral service will take place at 1:00pm, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and then on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Homer was born March 8, 1952 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Flora (Alexander) Kirby. He and Brenda Neely were united in marriage September 17, 1971. Homer worked for General Motors Truck and Bus for 30 years, retiring in 2002. After retiring, he and Brenda started their own expediting service. Homer was a stand-up and generous man; he will be greatly missed. Homer leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 39 years, Brenda; two sons, Steven and wife, Tamara and Homer Lee, Jr.; six grandchildren, Steven David, Katelyn, Jacob, Bridgitte, Hannah, and Joseph; two sisters, Linda Crisco, and Judy and husband, Don Weber; four brothers, George and wife, Teresa, Mark and wife, Sandy, Philip and wife, Linda K., and Daniel; very close friend, just like a brother, Uncle Walt and wife, Aunt Pam Thompson; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; and brother-in-law, Bob.
