Obituary of Malissa Irene Sly

Of Vassar, age 85, died Friday, July 17, 2009 at Nightingale Health Care Center in Warren. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, July 20, 2009 at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. IreneAaas family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home-Vassar on Sunday, from 2:00pm until 9:00pm. On Monday, Irene will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am.
Malissa was born September 19, 1923 in Lone Mountain, Tennessee the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Viola (Hurst) Dotson. She and Theodore Sly were united in marriage on September 5, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. Irene loved to travel, going to the casino, bowling, reading and tending to her garden. Irene was a member of the Eagles Aerie #2380 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a long time member of the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church.
Irene leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Theodore; 3 sisters, Iva, Hilda and Thelma.
