Obituary of Willis Raymond Carroll

Of Gladwin formerly of Mt. Morris, age 94, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at Hyde Park Memory in Flushing. The funeral service will take place 12:00noon, Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Rev. Paul Christiansen will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. WillisAaa family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00am to 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Eastern Michigan Food Bank or a Charity of Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Willis was born April 27, 1916 in Sparta, the son of Mr. Floyd and Mrs. Clara (Willis) Carroll. He and Ruth Decker were united in marriage May 1, 1937 in Indiana. Willis graduated from Mt. Morris High School Class of 1934. Willis worked for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1976 and a member of UAW Local # 651. Willis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working, carpentry and traveling. Willis leaves to cherish his memory, two children; Shirley (Edward) Smith and Donald (Christine) Carroll, six grandchildren; Dennis (Cherie), Timothy (Cindy), Larry and Ronald Smith, Craig Carroll, and Angie (Chuck) Glasscock, eight great-grandchildren; Christopher, Elysia Carroll, Austin Williams, Elizabeth, Joshua, Jacob, Adam and Melissa Smith, two great-great grandsons; Dylan and Aiden Gordon, two sisters; Marian Barnes and Louise (Ward) Kenyon; and several nieces and nephews. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Ruth, three sisters.
