Of Skidway Lake, age 84, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at his winter residence in Florida. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. JohnAaas family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Sunday, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. John was born September 12, 1926 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Lydia (Burlew) Harris. He and Mary Lou Rulason were united in marriage November 27, 1946 in Standish. John proudly served in the United States Army for two years before receiving his Honorable Discharge. John worked for Buick for 30 years before retiring in 1978; he was a member of UAW Local #599 and Standish VFW Post #3724. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with family and friends and traveling John leaves to cherish his memory, wife Mary Lou, two children; Donald and wife, Karen Harris and Diane Orefice, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, four siblings; Rose Harris, Shirley and husband, Pete Charnoske, James and wife, Sharon Harris, and Esther Dickerson and several nieces, nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lucius, three sisters; Frances, Dorothy and Clara, and son-in-law, John Orefice.
