Obituary of Joseph Ross

Of Mt. Morris, age 87, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Flint. Pastor Rev. Dr. Gary Beck will officiate with cremation to follow. JosephAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Thursday, from 12:00noon to 8:00pm. On Friday morning, Joseph will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:00am until time of service at 1:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Mark Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Joseph was born May 9, 1923 in Deluth, Minnesota the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Zulma (Vinseau) Ross. He and Dorothy L. Erno were united in marriage September 25, 1965. Joseph attended Bentley Public Schools. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years before receiving his Honorable Discharge on January 18, 1946. Joseph worked for Buick for 33 years before retiring in 1976. After his retirement, he decided to work at the Flint Auto Auction. He was a member of UAW Local #599 and lifetime member of Davison VFW Post #4087. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, boating and dancing. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 45 years, Dorothy; four wonderful children, Carol (Ron) Jankens, William (Kathy) VanOoteghem, Connie Mitchell, and Robert (Shelley) VanOoteghem; daughter-in-law, Donna Ross; 15 very special grandchildren; four precious great-grandchildren; sister, Jenney Duburry; and canine pal, Mickey. He was sadly mourning the recent lost of his son, Joseph and was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack; daughter, Kathy; and four grandchildren.
