Obituary of Donald Laverne Waggoner

Formerly of Vassar, age 85, passed away at his sonAaas home in Shelton, Washington. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Rev. Tyson G. Ferguson, will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Don's family will gather at the funeral home to receive friends on Thursday, from 11:00am to 8:00pm. On Thursday Evening, family and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Eagles Memorial Service at 7:00pm, conducted by F.O.E Aerie #2388. Donald was born September 4, 1925 in Clio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Hazel (Manry) Waggoner. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp in the Southwest Pacific during WWII for two years before receiving his Honorable Discharge April 2, 1945. He worked at ITT United Plastics for a number of years before retiring and was a Life Member of Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884, Caro D.A.V Chapter #33 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #2380. Don was the Past President of Mayville VFW Post from 1968 to 1970, President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie in the 1970Aaas and in the early 1980Aaas and the President of Caro D.A.V. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, fishing and hunting. Donald is survived by two sons; Douglas L. Waggoner, Sr. his wife, Cathy Jones-Waggoner, and Jerry and wife Denise Waggoner, 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, twin sister, Donna Tereau, sister Wilma Hool, his brother, Ray Waggoner, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by two wives; Nancy Waggoner and Geraldine Waggoner, and two sisters; Marjorie Lawrence and Elsie Tereau.
