Of Mt. Morris, age 94, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Maplewoods Manor in Clio. The funeral service will take place, 11:00am, Friday, January 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Pastor Mark Conn will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. On Friday, Earl will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Bruce was born May 18, 1916 in Mt. Morris, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Eva (Langdon) Brock. He and Dorothy Reed were united in marriage October 17, 1942, in Lansing. Bruce worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Buick Plant #12 for 47 years, before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the UAW #599. He was a lifetime, active member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris, where he was involved in many activities and projects. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees for many years, and taught Sunday School for 30 years. He enjoyed traveling and saw many countries, as well as 48 of the 50 states. Bruce leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years, Dorothy, son Earl Bruce Brock, Jr., and several nieces, nephews, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
