Obituary of Evonne J Daniels

Of Interlochen, formerly of Mt. Morris, age 76, joined her husband on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at after a short brave battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away surrounded by her loving family and faithful companion Coco. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor _________ will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30am until time of service at 1:00pm. Evonwants to give back to those who helped her with her fight, so in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to The WomenAaas Cancer Fund at Munson Health Care or The Hospice House of Munson Healthcare, both of Traverse City. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Evonne Joyce Rethman was born July 5, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan to Alvina and Herman Rethman. She attended Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Michigan until 10th grade. She was united in marriage to Ray E. Daniels in June 1977 until his death on September 6, 1997. She enjoyed going to the racetrack at Auto City Speedway and Dixie Motor Speedway watching her brother Dewey, husband and step-sons race, and was also employed there for many years working in the concession stand. She always said those were the best time of her life. She moved to Interlochen in August of 06 to be close to her family. She enjoyed going to the casinoAaas, catching the Twilight SagaAaas at the theaters, or just sitting around watching her soaps and doing crossword puzzles. She was also a big Red Wings fan, watching just about every game and the playoffs with her daughter. She had a heart of gold and was always trying to help out her family, putting herself last. God took her home a very special person. They say every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings so when you hear a bell ring she will get her wings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Sandra (Butch) Edgley of Interlochen, MI, 3 grandchildren, Bryan (Kelly)Hedden of Flintville, TN, Victoria (James)Paivarinta of Fort Campbell, KY, Jennifer DeShone and fiance Jeff Lasecki of Beula, MI, 5 great-grandchildren, Bryan II of Jacksonville, FL, Theresa of Flintville, TN, Chianne of Beulah, MI, Austin and Kylie of Fort Campbell, KY. She also leaves behind her extended family of 7 step-children, Kay Richter, Lisa Rose, John (Karla) Daniels, Ray Daniels, Orville Daniels, James Daniels, and special step-daughter, Sherry (Nick) Clark and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Helen Kempter of Saginaw, MI, a brother, Dewey (Donna) Rethman of Manistique, MI, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, step-son, Dale Daniels, parents, Alvina and Herman Rethman, sisters, Dorothy, Ruby, Evelyn, Elaine, Amy, brothers, Mike, Marvin, Donny, Billy, Freddy and her very best friend, Vivian Grathoff. The family wishes to thank Traverse City Infusion Clinic, Biederman Radiation, Beverly Warner from the WomenAaas Cancer Fund, Beth from Hospice House, the hospice nurses and Dr. Lisa Hughes, for all of their help, support and treatments.
