Of Clio, age 86, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Brians House Hospice. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Lifetime family friend, Deacon Dan Zudel will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Clio Art Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Doris was born June 27, 1924 in Cloquet, Minnesota the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Louise (Higdon) Hautala. She and James Stevens were united in marriage August 24, 1963. Doris enjoyed genealogy, singing, and art. She was a member of many societies, including the Clio Art Society and the Higdon Family Association. Doris leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 47 years, Jim; five children, Sandra and husband, Ken Gardner, Carol and husband, Jim Mercer, James Stevens, Jr., Kit and wife, Bonnie Wise, and Debbie and husband, Randy Wenzlick; twelve grandchildren, Teresa, Jeffery, Nancy, Laura, Gregory, Shari, Tamara, Kit Jr., Robbie, Brian, Deanna, and Candi; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; four sisters, Lillian, Florence, Betty, Marlene; one brother, Jackie; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Nelson Wise; brother, Ernie; and sister, Lorraine.
