Obituary of Naretha B. Shattuck

Of Vassar, age 84, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 at Covenant Health Care- Cooper. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, April 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Vassar in Vassar. Pastor Tyson Ferguson will officiate with burial to follow in Rich Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Thursday from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. On Friday, Naretha will be taken to church where she will lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Naretha was born September 27, 1926 in Fostoria, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Durelle and Izola (Brando) Sherbrook. She and James Clyde Shattuck were united in marriage on October 10, 1942. She worked for the Vassar Public School as a teachers aide for many years. Naretha enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, tending to her flower gardens and playing cards. Naretha leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Kalin C. and wife Vina Shattuck, Cheryl and husband John Piche` and Kathy and husband Gerry Vander Meer, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preeded in death by her parents, husband, James Clyde, one brother and one sister.
