Obituary of Ralph Hoppe

Of Mount Morris, age 76, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 10:00 am, Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Vicar Seth Davidson will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the American Lung Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Ralph was born October 19, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave and Emma (Ewald) Hoppe. He and Carolyn K. Pobanz were united in marriage November 29, 1957. In the same year, Ralph proudly joined the United States Army. He served two years Germany as a light weapons infantryman, before returning stateside. Later, he worked production for General Motors for 36 years, until his retirement in 1993. Ralph leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Paul and wife, Janet Hoppe, and Julie Hoppe and Ron Sargent; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; special friends, Phyllis Blake and Ruth Adado; and his dog, Star. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years, Carolyn; son, Jon; and eleven siblings.
