Obituary of Lloyd H. Anspaugh

Of Pinconning, previously of Genesee Township, passed away at home May 26, 2011 in the presence of friends and family. Private services will be held. Lloyd was born October 13, 1925 in Dryden, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry and Beulah (Walters) Anspaugh. Lloyd graduated from Imlay City High School in 1944. He then served his country proudly as an United States Marine in the 5th Pioneer Battalion from 1944-1946 during WWII on the assault of Iwo Jima. After being honorable discharged, he went on to work for General Motors-Truck and Bus in Flint for 44.4 years, as well as for Archie's Gas Station in the Flint area. After retirement, Lloyd worked for Pineview Estates in Genesee on a golf cart picking up papers and litter until 84.5 years of age with the help of his best companion, Shelby the black Australian Shepherd. He then moved to Pinconning, Michigan to be with friends and caregivers near the end of his life. Lloyd was kind and friendly. He had a witty sense of humor and was determined to make people happy. Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Virginia; sons, Jerry and Andy; granddaughter, Stephanie; sister, Genevieve Kreiner Kaufman (Douglas), Brown City, MI; sister-in-law, Shirley Anspaugh, Marysville, MI; six nieces and nephews; and specials friends, John and Teri Clark and their daughter, Shana'e Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Anspaugh; brother-in-law, Kenneth Kreiner; and best buddy, Shelby.
